Shabelle Bank S.C. recorded a significant growth in its 2025/26 fiscal year financial performance, with profit before tax climbing more than tenfold to 231 million Birr. The bank attributed the growth to expanded financing activities, rising deposit levels, and improved operational scale.
Customer deposits saw a 122 percent year-on-year increase, reaching over 4.7 billion Birr. The bank's financing portfolio also grew by 101 percent to 3.5 billion Birr, while total assets rose 55 percent to exceed 9.7 billion Birr.

During the fiscal year, the Sharia-compliant bank disbursed 2.5 billion Birr in financing, a 530 percent increase compared to the previous period. Annual financing recoveries reached 855 million Birr, up 45 percent. Despite the growth in revenue, operating expenses rose by 35 percent to 709 million Birr.

The bank's reach also expanded, with customer accounts now exceeding 425,000, complemented by approximately 1.7 million digital wallet accounts. This represents a 29 percent increase in total customer outreach.
Board Chairman Ibrahim Osman Farah noted that the relocation of the bank's head office to Addis Ababa has strengthened its strategic position. Looking forward, the bank's leadership stated that the focus remains on enhancing digital transformation, improving service quality, and maintaining sound corporate governance to support further financial inclusion and sustainable growth.
