The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority has approved the registration of 8 million existing shares of Awash Insurance S.C., a step that brings the company's securities under public market disclosure rules.
The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) has approved the registration statement of Awash Insurance S.C. and registered eight million existing shares held by shareholders, according to a public notice issued by the authority.
The registration was approved on 30 September 2026 and was made pursuant to Article 75 of the Capital Market Proclamation No. 1248/2021 and Articles 4 and 29 of the Public Offer and Trading of Securities Directive No. 1030/2024.
The notice specifies that the registered securities are eight million existing shares already held by shareholders. No new shares or public offer were included in the registration.

The ECMA stated clearly that the notice is published solely to inform the public of the securities registration and should not be interpreted as an endorsement of any offer, an offer to sell, or a solicitation of an offer to buy.
Under Ethiopia's capital market framework, securities offered to the public must be registered with the ECMA. The registration of existing shares by Awash Insurance marks another step in bringing established Ethiopian financial institutions into the formal securities disclosure system that now operates alongside the Ethiopian Securities Exchange.
The notice does not indicate whether the registered shares are intended for future trading on the exchange or relate to a broader compliance requirement. The authority has not announced any associated public offering.
